Not so much of a question but more of a rant and has anyone else experienced this?
Phoned Sky today with regard to getting our Sky Talk, Sky Q (with multi room and one mini box) and Sky Superfast broadband moved to our new address. A fairly simple painless process you would hope. We are moving to a relative's old house where they previously had just Sky+ with a dish and they had same broadband as us with same speeds and no issues with master socket. New dish with Sky Q LNB and only additional request was to have the cable from dish enter property at different point as TV moving another position in same room. This last issue was why I thought better to phone rather them do online as know that route can be flakey.
Over the course of 30 minutes we didn't even get as far as setting any date for the move! From the get go it was he was trying to upsell when it was neither required or requested. His first suggestion was that I would need to move to Superfast Broadband 35 involving recontracting with an associated price rise. He tried to suggest that If i stayed on my current broad band deal I would possibly get slower speeds. When I explained that I know from being at relatives property that I could average 40mbps ( identical to my current property) he chose not to listen. In the next breath he then tried to sell me a new contract for the Sports component of my Q package. He then suggested we look at other things we might add. To which I then confirmed that I had everything like multi room, Netflix, Cinema etc.. I managed to initially cut him short and politely confirmed that I was totally happy with all aspects my current package which does not expire till December 2024 and all I wished to do was move it to the new address. He seemed to accept that and then with goldfish like memory he then returned to trying to get me to recontract the broadband. Being a little more assertive I again suggested could we proceed to organizing a moving date? He then proceeded to mention the broadband again. I resisted the temptation to blow a gasket and explained that I needed to return to work and would phone back tomorrow.
Ultimately, an incredibly frustrating waste of time where I got nowhere near my objective of moving. Anyone else had anything as annoying? The obsession with the upselling was ridiculous and yet curiously he didn't try to sell me Sky Stream or Sky Glass which I was anticipating.
