Sky don't subscribe to the handback threshold way of determining guaranteed speeds and are free to choose their own. However it is unusual that they would choose a figure higher than the clean handback of 35Mbps

Thanks for the explanation

If you ask me it's a bit naughty. It's odd that the handbook results are showing there is no faster option, but the openreach guy actually showed me the new fibre cable on the pole literally right outside my house????

May be referring to fttp od which is a different kettle of fish as its the customer forks out the bill for the installation which can exceed £8000 and a domestic customer can only get up to £1500 voucher usually when their speeds are less than 10Mbps

That doesn't mean it's available to ISPs at the present time though. In our town the raw cable was hanging from poles (and sticking out of pavements) for many, many months before FTTP broadband products became orderable.

yeh I've just spoken to a neighbour and the engineers that put the cables in said it'll be available soon.

Keep an eye on that wholesale checker link . The option for domestic up to 1Gbps full fibre will show as WBC FTTP
