Third party router that allows VLAN/network segmentation and will work with Sky?
Hi all,
I've been trying to create a parallel network so that I can connect my home servers to the internet securely. I have the SR203 Sky Hub as my main router, let's call it router A. I tried connecting a second SR203 – let's call it router B – to router A to create a parallel network but that didn't work, I got an error related to the connection between both being half duplex?
Anyway, I've arrived at the conclusion that in order to have a VLAN (a parallel network to my main network) I need to buy a third party router. I've seen a few posts using the RT-AX82U and the RT-AX88U but these are quite high-end routers (a bit spenny!). I was wondering if I can achieve the network segmentation I'm looking for without spending more than £50-70.
I understand I can't use just any router that allows VLAN because the Sky Hub is not only a router but also a modem, and that if I plug any router into the Sky Hub I might get NAT issues. So what specs am I looking for? Has someone successfully achieved network segmentation using hardware under say £70? Thank you!
(Currently I'm using broadband but it looks like we might get upgraded to Fibre next month)

@n2939 You just can't use 2 hubs to do what you want as you've found it doesn't work
You need to look at routers such as Draytek etc which have vlan creation, there are others out there that offer vlan setup.
Sadly what your wanting to achieve won't be done on cheap simple routers, creating vlans needs business grade/high end routers, so if this is what you want you're really going to have to put your hands in your pocket and spend som money.

It shouldn't be possible to be in legitimate possession of two Sky Broadband Hubs, so it's perhaps not entirely surprising that schemes using them aren't successful..
