Theres an outage in my area

I've no Internet connection and I have a sky glass tv so I can't watch tv because I've no interest connection. It says there's an outage in my area and it's been like this since 10pm last night. Who can I speak to about this as I only got connected on Wednesday

@slm26 Sky's lines will be open from 8am but it is unlikely that they will be able to give much more information.

Most area outages are caused by damage to the Openreach network and they do not give a running commentary on repairs to their customers like Sky. How long it will take to fix is almost impossible to know most take a few hour, some take a few days and in rare cases weeks.

Sometimes your local media will know more if its news worthy like a car hitting a street cabinet, major cable theft or the old favourite a digger driver digging in the wrong place.

Re: Theres an outage in my area

How does that help anybody if they can't give you proper updates. My wifi only became active on the 26th and I'm already wanting to leave as I never had this problem with my previous broadband provider. It's an absolute joke

@slm26 sorry it is what it is and its just bad luck you have an issue soon after a new service was commissioned. The engineers will be concentrating on getting the fault fixed often they wont know themselves how long that will take.

Yeah I rung sky and they've said that openreach are the ones sorting the issue and haven't given them any more information and that other broadband providers are affected too

@slm26

Openreach aren't the best at updating ISP's regarding repairs.

The below link explains the Ofcom agreed auto compensation scheme which Sky operates for when there is a TOTAL loss of Sky Broadband or Sky Talk.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/auto-compensation

If you have a total loss of service and it isn’t fixed after two full WORKING days from when you notify Sky of the fault, you will become eligible for it. It’s applied 30 days after the fault has been repaired and will come in the form of a credit appearing on your Sky account (new rates apply from 01/04/24 of £9.76 per day).
