Probably best to try to keep issues separated, as it sound like you've got various things going on there.

Yes, that happens sometimes.  If there's a WPS setup option, this is sometimes more successful

last week an engineer phoned me to say i had been upgraded to fibre optic,

Have you ordered any such 'upgrade' and has anything at your address relating to broadband physically changed?

does that mean  my password has change

Only if the router has been swapped

and if so where can i find my numbers,

Printed label on the bottom (Q Hub) or rear (Sky Broadband Hub)

as my router is over 12 years old,

Then it's long out of support, and really shouldn't be still in use

i am loing the will to,live , eight hours i have been trying, wouldn't mind but i had paid for help services and they never helped, just wanted me to fork out £300.

Sky won't charge for support, and HP shouldn't.  You need to be careful of scam support operations: where did that '£300' quoted price come from?
