TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

I am trying to get a new TP Link AX3000 router to work!I have tried via the TP Link App and I can't get away from it asking for the PPOE username and password. Sky won't help at all and say they will only support their router. I have a BT Whole Home Mesh system at the moment, with 5 discs in total as we have a large Victorian house over three floors, however still have problems seem to lead back to the Sky hub, which we had before we had the FTTP and ONT modem installed. I searched long and hard but cannot find an amswer that gives the correct login and password that TP Link is asking for. I have tried the abcdefg1234@ etc and they don't work. Any simple solutions? Before anyone asks, I have turned off the wi-fi on the sky hub, so just use the MESH for access. Thanks!

The process for authenticating a tp link ax router in the uk is called dhcpv6 prefix delegation

See below

Tp link AX is on latest firmware

IPV6 on (advanced menu option)

Dynamic IP (SLAAC/DHCPv6)

advanced settings: DHCPv6

prefix delegation enabled

DNS address: get dynamically from ISP

IPv6 LAN

SLAAC + stateless DHCP

MAC Clone: Use Default Mac address

Sky Stream , Sky Superfast, SR203 router, Tp link td w9970 + Asus RT AX58U (backup), Xbox Series X, google home mini, LG 43 inch UHD tv, samsung a5 2017 and samsung s21

If I get it right mark as answered
If I get it wrong humour me
If I say something you like give a thumbs up

Re: TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

@cookiemonsteruk I tried following your settings to no avail 😞

network works fine as soon as i revert to the sky hub, going through the tp link settings doesn't seem to work at all - also left it about 20/30 mins to try and connect after using your settings which didn't work.

Also have Sky FTTP 500

I have an AX5400 and I could not get it to work. Then I followed the instructions above and connected instantly.

Re: TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

How long did it take to connect? I left mine for over 20 mins and the orange internet light was still showing and wasn't able to use the internet.

Hi I have the exact same router and problem, followed the suggest advice to the letter and even tried a few options here and there and still nothing.

Re: TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

I have given up. I tried to follow various instructions and suggestions, none of which worked. Sky clearly won't play ball, which is petty. I have moved my sky router to another area that I can link the FTTP to, and then set up my mesh network from scratch again, and it's better, I still have only 60mps in a few areas of our house (500mps FTTP) but get 150mps+ in the important places so I can now live with it.

@cookiemonsteruk

Many thanks for this info. I had been scouring forums to set up a TP-Link VR2800 to the Sky fibre to no avail until I saw this thread.

router was connected to the openreach ONT via Ethernet and in wireless mode. Within a couple of minutes of adding the correct settings you mentioned, the router connected to the internet and started working correctly. WiFi is much stronger around my house now with fewer dead spots compared to the standard sky router.

Thanks again!

Re: TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

Can confirm these instructions work on an AX72, but you MUST update the firmware on the router first. It will not work until you do.

Re: TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

After much fiddling, googling  and almost giving in to having to use sky router, these settings worked like a charm. I could kiss you. Thank you

Re: TP Link AX3000 with Sky FTTP

using either of the tp link routers mentioned here, is it possible to still use the sky router for the voip phone ?  could the sky just be linked via ethernet to get voip working ?  long shot I know
