@Kevco1

Openreach is moving a very small number of exchange areas to full-fibre-only as a testbed in advance of the wider programme.

The current trio are

Deddington, Ballyclare and Kenton Road

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2025/11/openreach-grapple-with-remaining-users-as-first-uk-exc...

However there will undoubtedly be scammers jumping on this too.

Edit: apparently Deddington has already transitioned.

That could well be a scam call so what else did they say, so did they ask for for any account login details ?

Re: Switching to full fibre immediately

@Kevco1 There is NO such thing as Jan 2027, if OR make the decission for whatever urgent reason they have then the choice will be go with it or not they will try to work around but if cannot choice may be service or none only hold back to it will be Emergency procedures. But 100% check with sky by calling, they will know if it was legit call to you ot not!

That's the current target point for national PSTN switch-off.

https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/public-switch-telephone-network-pstn

This isn't directly related to FTTP rollout, but does require all properties to have broadband access (over either copper or optical) for voice calls if the residents still want to have a 'landline'.

Re: Switching to full fibre immediately

@TimmyBGood Yes current target and OR have already said what ever needs to be done will be done, emergencies will arise and if deemed so all hands to the pump will be applied. Scammers no doubt will be over this like a rash and trying the fear tactics, sky will know or should know what/which dept called to do what! I checked the other month when sales from sky called as it came up scam call, they did confirm that yes someone from sales had indeed called but better to be safe than sorry!

@Kevco1Do try next one to string along, get some more info from the caller, and remember any number can be cloned to show up as different!
