Hi
Im switching from Virgin BB to Sky and have found out that there may be a problem with switching my Orbi RB50 mesh over due to the Sky Router not having non Modem mode? I've read around as much as I can and someone said about just connecting it to it with Ethernet and switching the WiFi off on the Sky hub?
Obviously this problem is not specific to my Orbi but just needed to make sure before I sign on the dotted line as they did push to sell me their ultimate WiFi but TBH there's no point as the Orbi works fine.
I'm not a techy and bought the Orbi mesh sometime ago on recommendation and have been happy with it for the past 5 years.
thanks for any replies.

The rbk50 router can be connected to a 3rd party vdsl modem bridge for fttc connections or directly connected to the ont on fttp connections so long as its on the firmware below
RBK50 |
V2.5.0.22 and above |
Also it can be set up in access point mode as you have described

Hi
thanks for reply
as said I'm not a techy and don't understand fttc and bridging modem and stuff like that...🫤
just need all to work as it does now as Daughter is directly wired into one of the satellites for her Uni Art stuff as she says gives better connection.
Just want the easiest way to do it. would just plugging 2 together work and still give the landline? That's how I have it currently with Virgin with switching their hub into modem mode.
How do I switch the WiFi off on the Sky hub?
Thanks

Aye. To retain the landline the sky hub needs to be connected to the wan and have the public ip address.
So the orbi will be etherneted to the sky hub with the phone plugged into the back of the sky hub. Then disable wifi on the sky hub and ethernet the rbr50 router in access point mode into the sky hub the rbs50 satellite nodes shouldn't require any tinkering with
