Switching to Full Fibre / ONT Placement

We are finally getting full fibre in our village, and yesterday open reach installed the junction box outside our property. My concern is, where the box has been installed is on the opposite side of the house (in a different room) to where our current phone and internet port is located. Can the ONT be installed where the current socket is, or will it need to be installed where the Junction box is? If its the latter the im not sure how we are going to connect our hub to the ONT as that will be in the kitchen (behind a cupboard) and everything else is n the living room.

I was not asked when Openreach arrived where our current internet and phone socket was located and they have installed the junction box at the point where the old disused socket is located

@Cliggs38

Assuming a route is available, Openreach should be prepared to run an external fibre pigtail from the CSP around the outside of the property to where you'd prefer the ONT to be (which does need to be near a power outlet).

Re: Switching to Full Fibre / ONT Placement

Thanks for the reply, if this is the case then that shouldn't be an issue as there is a clear route along the property to where that location is.

I guess i will have to wait and see what happens on the day, but this has put my mind at ease some what

@Cliggs38 I had an installation done recently the Openreach engineer was very helpful and confirmed they do not need the external box near where the ONT is going.  Indeed in my house the issue was not drilling into the box by mistake as the fitting is done from the ONT outwards.

However do make sure if you can't be there yourself whoever is present knows what is required but will listen to the engineer if that is impossible and can make any decisions required.
