Switching from Vodafone Cityfibre to Sky Cityfibre - Same Installation?

Hi all. Can anyone confirm whether Sky and Vodafone use the same ONT for their CityFibre installations? Obviously the routers will be different but is the CityFibre connection into the property exactly the same? I have been with Vodafoine for a couple of years on CityFibre but my contract is ending and their renewal prices can't compete with Sky, even with some extra bill credit offered.

However, I'd really rather avoid having more holes drilled in my external walls and having yet more wall boxes mounted. Will the installation of Sky on the CityFibre network just plug straight into the same ONT as the one previously installed for Vodafone?

Thanks in advance for any help.

@caledoniain Check the sky web site, if the package offered has symmetrical speeds then you will be on the CF connection, sky does not have all the rights in place where CF is supplied, ONT is the same no need for it to be changed!

Re: Switching from Vodafone Cityfibre to Sky Cityfibre - Same Installation?

Thanks @JimM1  - appreciate the info re. the ONT. Should hopefully make for a very simple installation.

The speeds on offer are not quite symmetrical but they're close enough that I'm pretty sure I'm being offered a CityFibre connection rather than OpenReach (904-951 Mbps down, 787-947 Mbps up).

If I put in my next-door neighbour's address (they haven't had a CityFibre connection to the cabinet wired in yet) Sky shows maximum speeds of 67 Mbps down and 7 Mbps up, so they are presumably still on OpenReach whilst we are being offered CityFibre.

That seems reasonable to assume, right?

@JimM1 - I just placed my order and it says the following in the confirmation e-mail:

If you already have an ONT (Optical Network Terminal - a small box which connects the fibre cabling from outside to your Hub), it may need to be replaced during your installation appointment.

Hopefully this is just to cover them for people moving from Openreach to CityFibre (who presumably would all need a new ONT).

@caledoniain Doubt that fact, the OR and CF ONT's are different models used, but if it needs changed then just ask the CF engineer who comes to do it why!

Not actually so fussed if the ONT needs to be changed. I would just rather they didn't mess with the CF box installed on the outside of the house or drill any more holes through my external walls.

@caledoniain No it would be just an ONT swap, one to the other nothing else, take the Engineer couple minutes to change and 5 to get it provisioned on the system!

Went from EE full Fibre to Sky FF on the OR system so no change off anything was involved at all!
