I think you may be slightly missing the point.... I am a 1Gig customer and next to the router I am only getting 120mbps.... so regardless I should be getting more
At that point in time we just had the TV on and it was extremely pixilated, lagging or then just buffering. Really ridiculous considering I wasn't doing anything else and was in the same room as the router.

You wont necessarily get more than 120mbps next to the router over WiFi, its completely dependant on the WiFi conditions within your property & the device you are using. For example neighbouring Wifi networks, appliances, home construction, if your device supports WiFi 6 etc.
The only time your speeds are guaranteed is over ethernet.

I am getting the exact same, issue. Just received a replacement Hub from SKY, still same issue !
