Hi all,
I have done some searching of the forum before posting this but as I am a total noob when it comes to networking etc, I really wanted to get the answers from the horses mouth. Thanks in advance.
I have sky full fibre broadband 500mb. I live in a modest semi detached house and currently the WiFi signal is acceptable in almost all of the house apart from the back bedroom (furthest possible away from router position). I'm using the sky router which came with sky q TV. Black upright box.
I have a detached garage, 5 metres from the back of my house and 13 metres from the router. The garage is made of breeze block, single skin.
Currently, the WiFi signal is poor/non existent in the garage. I have used powerline adapters and they are "okay" but can cut out and as the garage is on the same electrical connection, the house is 20 years old so I don't see that being a sustainable solution. Well, it isn't as it cuts out while streaming or buffers etc.
I have a good darts setup in my garage and I am looking to start using some webcams and internet based scoring equipment (scolia)so I want a solid stable connection.
Firstly, is there a router out there that will be able to meet my range for WiFi connection? Looking at around 19 metres (back corner of garage from router position). Don't mind about price within reason. If so, would it be simple enough swap of current sky equipment to the new router?
Or should I be looking at just simply running 3 LAN cables outside of the house from the router to the garage? I would like to avoid that ideally but maybe it's the only option?
Apologies for such a long post...
Thanks, Michael

@Louise11073009 no matter which router you buy the range will not magically extend range through two external walls to a detached garage as transmission power is strictly regulated as previously pointed out.
The cheapest and best solution is to run an Ethernet cable as an alternative decent results can be gained by using a powerline networking kit thst uses the mains cabelling assuming both buildings share a mains consumer unit.

Re: Stable connection in detached Garage - Full Fibre
All WiFi equipment is regulated for maximum power output: more expensive routers can have better aerials and signal management, but cannot be 'louder'.
When running ethernet only one cable is required: ethernet switches permits multiple simultaneous hardware devices to connect.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know on ethernet.
So are you saying that there is no router available that would extend coverage in my house, better than the standard sky broadband hub?

Re: Stable connection in detached Garage - Full Fibre
Do we think the range would be extended successfully enough by replacing the sky hub with RT-Ax86u Pro?
