Splitting 2.4GHz and 5GHz for cameras

Hello.

Ive been trying to split the 2.4GHz and 5GHz signal to allow my security cameras to log on. I have followed the previous post advice but once passed the log in stage ( admin and password ) i see no where that shows an unsyncronize option. I have also tried to rename one of the ssid's and it will not allow me to do this. I am a new Sky customer with new equipment and no experience of doing this. I find the lack of being able to gain this help from a Sky Tech directly rather annoying!

Do you have the Sky Max Hub/Addon? If so you cant split the bands

If you opted for the Max Hub then unfortunately there's no option to unsync the bands: this is apparently not possible while retaining the supposed advantages of the underlying Plume WiFi 6 specification.

Ok. Thanks. Although not the answer Id hopped for!

Does that mean that if you have security cameras that require a 2.4GHz signal they are now useless or is there another way of getting them logged onto the router?

The issue is slightly more subtle than that: it's usually that the IoT device is 2.4Ghz only but the phone or tablet hosting its control app is using 5Ghz and so cannot reach the device to teach it the WiFi password.

Unfortunately this is currently a distinct problem with the Max Hub which Sky does not yet have a solution for.

A clunky workaround would be to move your device & the camera/smart device quite far away from the router so that they are forced to use the 2.4ghz band. It might not work but you can try

Ooooh, cunning ; )

@zaskarl3

I've queried Sky on this again elsewhere: it's only going to affect more people as the Max Hub gains traction.
