Sold full fibre, only part fibre available in area

Sky told me I could have Full Fibre 150 at my home address but after checking open reach, apparently only part fibre is available! Explains why the internet is dodgy with regular dropouts and poor speed to the hub. 3 engineers and 2 phone calls later and it's still broken. Also no downgrade has been offered at all

@Tom277 sounds like you bought Ultrafast 150 service but delivered using G.Fast rather than full fibre. G.Fast is a slightly older technology which can work if you have a short copper line to the cabinet.

Do Sky still sell G.fast services?

I thought pretty much all ISPs had stopped supplying new G.fast services due to the horrendous support costs.

I wouldn't have thought continued sale of those products was in Sky's interests, especially given they appear to be losing money hand over fist on broadband services.

@Mr+Slant Think it may just all be down to what is available and if sky and btw decide ok just now stop gap. Everyone is kind of heading along this direction just now, still a few selling it but not many! If the OP comes back with a low speed, and we can findout using the SR203 then we will know for sure!

Interesting, they don't at my daughter's address and there's a G.fast cabinet about 40m away - Openreach checker site says full rates and there's capacity in the cabinet.

Then again there's Cityfibre services running past her door now which might have something to do with it - and she's an existing customer on VDSL2 (max rates again).

@Mr+Slant And now well spoilt for all the choices, could not get better! Full Fibre will be the one and all depending on voice landline no doubt!

CityFibre availablity should trump G.fast

Re: Sold full fibre, only part fibre available in area

I've got a 204 Hub and bought 150 full fibre and yes it is Gfast, it worked okay for a time but now it's so inconsistent and choppy - sometimes flawless, sometimes non existent! Speeds are averaging 80mbps a day but it was sold to me at a guarantee of 100 :S

@Tom277 Would be good for you to go get the stat's off the SR204 hub so your line can be looked at! Link from the Tips above.

How to read your Sky Hub statistics

Can you also grab your service checker history for the last 30 day's to your line. Link also below for it!

Re: Sold full fibre, only part fibre available in area

@Tom277 If that is your BTW sample then as far as it is concerned NO G.Fast is available, but you do need to look further to the right!
