Slow broadband

I'm currently getting half the download speed I should be getting. I've tried the My Sky app and spoken to Sky and they say everything is fine at their end. I've attached my router stats but im only getting download speeds of 38 Mb through Wi-Fi or router. Any ideas?

@MarcusBrody  So you are getting 38mb on Wi-Fi and wired connection or is it just Wi-Fi? What site are you using to take the speed test from?

It's wired and wireless. I'm using the speedtest app and fast.com.

A sort of screenshot. My Xbox Series X is connected by Ethernet. Here's a picture of the fast.com result.

Are you still experiencing the problem? Often this issue occurs right after a line activation or fault fix and resolves itself after a few days

@jamesn123We're still experiencing it. The speed went back to normal on Friday but slowed down again on Saturday and hasn't changed since then. After talking to Sky (who couldn't see any issue) they're sending us a new router but I'm not optimistic that will resolve the issue.

I am having the exact same issue.  Previously 78/79mbs.  Now 38mbs according to fast.com and other checks.

 

The automated SKY checks say that the hub is receiving 79999.

 

Do we think this is a router fault?

I've been having the same problem on and off for a week.

router says 79999 just like yours and I get 38Mbps however I test it, WiFi or Ethernet.

 

it will be like this when I get home from work, and by the morning it's ok again, and I will get 75Mbps again. Some days are ok, others appear to get 'capped' at 38Mbps, I have turned everything off in my house, and I'm confident the problem is external.

Very interesting to see multiple people hitting the exact same 38mbs  - not 35, not 34 and not 41.  😉

Some folk on other posts have seen their normal speeds when using vpns which, I believe, suggested Sky was throttling their speed. I wasn't seeing any change through vpn. 

Someone more learned than me might be able to explain what the issue is but all I know is that I'm (currently) back up to full speed after swapping out the router for a replacement. I have no idea if that will last.

The worst I feared has happened. The new router gave us 2.5 days of full speed and now we're back to 38.....
