Slow broadband but SKY say it's fine

My broadband speed has always been about 11Mbps since we moved to our semi-rural location in 2019. Over the last few weeks it is regularly under 1Mbps - usually when it rains. The SKY automated service checker says that it's normal and indicates also that weather can cause slow broadband.

Obvioulsy, having non-existant broadband whenever it rains is not ideal living in the UK - what can I do? This did happen before 2 years ago and a simple phone call to SKY had an engineer out here in 2 days and problem fixed in 30 minutes. It seems those days are gone.

That sounds like it may be an ADSL service.  If you are in a minimum contract term with Sky then it should still be possible to book an Openreach investigation for a fault, but realistically ADSL isn't getting much attention.

Router stats as requested - it shows 11Mbps but it's 6Mbps at my laptop, but at the time of posting my original post it was about 0.8Mbps.

It certainly is a bad line.

Although at least it's FTTC rather than ADSL: the outbound is too high for the latter.  Presumably a long distance to the local fibre cabinet.

Theres a max of 20Mbps and a guarantee of 8-13 Mbps

So i don't know if sky will do anything.

Re: Slow broadband but SKY say it's fine

Thanks for taking a look - if it is regularly out of the guarantee speed i.e. 8-13 (which it is) will they fix it? And how do I do that seeing as though the automates service keeps fobbing me off?

Unfortunately the 'guarantee' isn't of a fix: it's increasingly common for the ISP just to offer early exit without penalty, particularly on tricky copper circuits.  You'll need to persist with logging a fault to get any attention.
