Slow Broadband after signing up to new 18 month contract

I have been with Sky Broadband for years and in order to get a better deal I contacted sky and signed up for another fixed 18 month term.

Ever since this change has been made my broadband has been extremely slow. I should be getting 35Mb/s and although the sky broadband check says I am getting that, every other speed checker says I am getting 18Mb/s at best!

We have also noticed a significant drop in performance, supporting the lower speeds on other checkers. Zoom calls are dropping, tv shows are buffering and the connection seems to be terrible all round.

We have  not changed anything physically. Router is where it has always been and going through the troubleshooting steps has made no difference.

Can someone at Sky please help investigate and tell me what's going on?

How are you testing your speed @RSWatson - over Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connected device?

May you please post your router stats, this can be done following the information in this link

@RSWatsonthe issue looks like slow wifi. The hub is connected at 35Mb/s so a device connected by a fast network link would give speed test results around 32Mb/s but test on a device connected by a slower wifi link then that is the speed that is reported.

Wifi speeds depend on the layout and construction of your home but can be affected by interference from electrical equipment, neighbour's wifi networks etc. All of which are out of Sky's control. There are things you can do which may improve things a bit see Sky Help - Slow wifi

@Totalwar2 slow wifi is extremly common Sky hubs privide reasonable wifi coverage but dont expect fast wifi through out a modern home from one without some help as you wont get it.

Not really the router most of the time it's the speed of your devices.

Re: Slow Broadband after signing up to new 18 month contract

The thing that gets me is that nothing has changed - same router, same placing and same usage.

Why all of a sudden has the strength of the wifi dipped?

the only thing that has changed was me changing my subscription.

I guess I'll just need to phone Sky and speak with them.
