Sky wifi max hub
Just set up the WiFi max hub and realised the dual bands are linked and not separated, probably going to return it because of it, only really got it for the parental control! Why that isn't standard across all their contracts baffles me!
Does the hub decide what band the devices use? My son upstairs has a gaming pc that only works on 5G, on the previous router he could connect to the 5G WiFi. Is there a way to get it to connect to 5G only? Make or break if i cancel contract. Also i have loads of WiFi devices, are these now all going to be fighting for bandwidth through this one channel

Re: Sky wifi max hub
@Djtarran the new wifi max hub is a wifi6 device which uses both bands. I have never heard of a device only using 5GHz (not 5G which is a mobile technology) all of the previous WiFI standards are either 2.4GHz only or can use either band 2.4GHz and 5GHz . You can connect most devices that only use the 2.4GHz band by temporarily turning off the 5GHz band using the My Sky app conecting the device and then turning the 5GHz band back on and they should stay connected.

Re: Sky wifi max hub
By using both bands under the same name and password, would that not bottleneck all the devices bandwidth? And i mean his PC can connect to 2.4G but he has horrendous connection (to far away to be wired) only way he played with no lag etc was being connected to the 5G band.
sky engineer told me, that anything that constantly moves i.e mobiles handhelds etc should be on 2.4G anything that's stationary i.e smart TVs and consoles should be on 5G
