Sky states I’m getting ~18MB/s but my download speeds on my PC don’t go higher than 2MB/s
When downloading on my PC (like a game on Steam for example) my download speeds never go higher than maybe 2.3MB/s, but checking the Sky website they state my internet speed is 18MB/s +, why is that not showing in my download speeds?

I believe the steam servers sometimes throttle the speed. Earlier I was downloading a game and on average my d/l speed was 200 mbps when my speeds on speedtest was 500 mbps. Actually initially it was only giving me 30 mbps so I cancelled the download and started again. Might be worth trying that.

By default the Steam client shows speed in MBs (megabytes per second) rather than Mbs (megabits per second) which the Sky speed test reports. There are eight bits in one byte, so 18Mbs and 2.3MBs are almost exactly the same.
18Mbs is still pretty slow though, and a big download is going to take ages.
