Live broadcast content arrives over the satellite dish: everything else (on-demand, Box Sets, catch-up, watch from start) is delivered online.  Sky are reluctant to install Q where there's no broadband because of the drastically diminished content availability (despite the monthly cost remaining the same) but a main Q box (or Sky+ HD) can function for simple television viewing through a Signature subscription without it.
