Hi.
I have the sky Q router and until now have been quite happy. I only live in a relatively small house, but it is old and made from proper bricks.
I recently bought two outdoor wifi cameras and here the problem starts. The first camera is less than 6 feet away from the router on the outside wall and yet the signal is constantly dropping out. The second is probably 25 feet away and again outside but does have line of sight through a window and this is marginally better.
Having read through the various comments here it seems to me that the sky Q router isn't all that.
I contacted Sky today to see if I could get a better router and had two options presented to me. 1. have a booster, but given this will basically be next to the router I can't see it helping. 2. Upgrade my account to faster broadband, which I'm not really interested in, but this seems to be the only way to get a more mofern router.
Does anyone thing I have other options or shall I just switch providers?
thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThe Sky Q router may not be all that but its still worthy enough and if your saying the construction of your house is quite solid it may not matter which ISP you go to the performance of the WiFi will likely be similar.
However yes you have been told correctly, to get an upgraded router you must either subscribe to Sky Boost, Sky Max or a Full Fibre product.
Alternative options are to purchase your own router/AP and use that or some sort of extender.
