Sky q mini boxes not working as wifi boosters with Gigafast

Hi. I upgraded to gigafast a few weeks ago.  Speeds on the wifi in the same room as the router are up to 800mb/s. Upstairs I have two mini sky q boxes,  which are supposed to act as wifi boosters,  but the wifi speed upstairs are between 20 and 40mb/s. 

Connecting the minis to ethernet isn't really an option,  and since it was fine before the gigafast upgrade it shouldn't be necessary. I'm wondering if the minis aren't configured correctly.  

(TV and apps viewing is fine through the minis). Any help appreciated.

If you now have a white Max Hub, the main and Mini Q television boxes are no longer acting as hotspots.  There's nearly a decade between the technologies, and Sky (under Comcast ownership) chose not to put the proprietary Q mesh technology into Max broadband hardware.

Looks like I'll have to ask Sky for some newer replacement minis.  Or maybe there'll send me some of those wifi boosters.  From what I've read it seems those are hard to get hold of!

There are no newer Q Minis: their hardware specification never changed from the model released in early 2016 (and realistically Q has only a few years left anyway). The final main Q box revision was in late 2019 and pre-dates Max.

Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of the legacy 'Broadband Boost' add-on and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell boosters except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Phoning Sky to go through a telephone diagnosis is required to have a booster or pod allocated to the account. Inevitably some  Sky booster hardware has leaked onto a certain auction site and elsewhere online, but Sky won't offer support with using these. 

Confusingly the default 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' bundled with all new Sky Broadband orders where Boost or Max is not added by the customer doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above plus a one month broadband subscription refund.

Sorry to jump on this thread but I have kinda the opposite but same kind of issue. I have upgraded to 500mb broadband(black router). And in my living room I get these speeds, however in my bedroom where I have a mini it maxes out about 130, if I switch the mini off I go up to 400 so it's an issue with the mesh. I just don't know how to disable the mesh but still keep the WiFi to watch tv in the bedroom, wish I could just disable the hotspot.... should I ask for a max router?

There is no easy way to do so: in theory you could connect the Mini over ethernet to a separate WiFi extender.

Thanks, however what is the theoretical max the mini can handle I feel it can't do anything over 150 (granted Ethernet might increase this) but defeats the purpose of a mini box away from the main hub
