Sky price in contract price increase Oct 24

Hi. I have been with sky just 6 months and have been informed of broadband price increase of 33%. Sky signature element remains unchanged for the moment though I have a funny feeling that will increase at some some stage 😜.

Anyhow does anyone know if this is normal practice mid contact. If so 33% seem excessive. I get it if it was RPI + 3.9% as for the other providers.

Anyone have similar experience?

@DougLife7

Or, because you joined in April when the annual price increase is applied, Sky gave you 6 months grace on it?

Re: Sky price in contract price increase Oct 24

@Laing1 My contract summary says £23 per month for 18 months then £35.50 per month.  So a discount of £12.50. It has actually gone up £7.50 to £30.50.

When I look at my Billing page on my Sky it seems the base price has increased to £43 but I still get the same discount of £12.50.

So bottom line is the discount has been honoured but the base price has been increased.

Are they allowed to do that.? Seems underhand.

@DougLife7 I think @Daniel0210 is correct as the base price has gone up by £7.50 as well then it would seem Sky have given you a 6 month grace on the price increase.

When Sky increase the base price they don't increase the discount to offset the base price increase so those with larger discounts do get hit harder than those paying the full price

The T&C's do mention about increases in prices

@DougLife7 Yes Sky are allowed to do that, its covered in the terms and conditions under the yearly price rise that effets all customers.

@Laing1 @Daniel0210 @daveNOS

So does that mean the base price for super fast broadband increased for everyone then or just me?

Whatever the case a 33% annual increase is far in excess of Virgin, BT, etc.

I do have the option of cancelling without penalty.

@DougLife7 The base price increased for every UK in April (Ireland i believe is a different date) , some received a 60 protection from this if they joined just before the rise.

It would appear you may have received a longer protection period and that Sky have now made the adjustment.
