Sky max pod speeds.
Hi I'm only getting between 60/80mb speeds on the sky max pod when I am getting 500mb for my hub. Are the pods capped at a slower speed ?

Re: Sky max pod speeds.
@Ste82 the pods are not capped but to get high speeds they need to be placed where they have a fast connection bsck to the hub. They use a third high frequency signal to connect to the WiFi Max hub which has limited range to give higher speeds so placement is important. I would experiment with moving the pod closer to the hub.

Re: Sky max pod speeds.
I believe that the Sky Max Pod only uses WiFi 5 whereas the hub uses WiFi 6. There's a marked speed difference between the two.

Re: Sky max pod speeds.
@Alan07 thst is correct but given WiFi5 can easily deliver around 600Mb/s the restriction has little practical effect. As I posted earlier in the thred the biggest factor is the backhaul connection to the hub that primarily determines the speed the extenders can provide.

Re: Sky max pod speeds.
I am having problems with speed on the POD as well.
It isn't the POD, my phone connects and gets good speeds, but my PC doesn't. Any clue what might be causing that?
I have Iwifi 6 AX200 160MHz on my PC, sometimes I get top speeds (150 for me) but most of the time it's less than 10. The inconsistency is puzzling and very frustrating.

Re: Sky max pod speeds.
Forget this! I solved my own problem... the WiFi adaptor in the PC was loose. All seems to be fine now with great speeds.

Re: Sky max pod speeds.
@KathSue you can easily have spots in your home with poor wifi signal strength so consider moving the pod and the PC.
Remember that radio waves used to carry the data are blocked by anything made of metal and lose a lot of power passing through a wall. Consider thst radio waves are behave like a light so if you are relying on reflections you can struggle . WiFi cards in a PC case made of metal can be a pain so an external aerial can help. Ideally PCs are better connect by Ethernet cables which you can run back to the pod but a direct connection to the hub is better.
