Have the kit, waiting installation of full fibre 300.
New sky max hub has std phone input and RJ11 input (purple) . Does this hub have built in ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor) that allows DECT cordless phones to communicate as full voip (Internet calls) which are free.
If not do I need a separate external ATA unit connected to the DECT base station which then connects to one of the hubs RJ45 data connections?
My current panasonic DECT setup is old now and I will be buying a new Panasonic DECT set that is "voip ready" .
Information around this subject is scarce and contradictory...I want to use voip Internet calls which are free...not analog calling which is only free evenings and weekends. Thanks

As above, If you want to use the Sky network for your calls, you plug you phone into the BT431A socket on the Hub & pay the appropriate charges. If you want to use your own VOIP service then you'll need an ATA & an appropriate account with a VOIP provider.

NOT what we were told when we signed up and not what is said online.
We do not have a landline (BT) ..just a cable tv connection which is wired like BT..that will be disconnected next week.
Sky say "internet" calls (VOIP) are free ..not paid for ....THIS .

Yes, Internet Calls are free for Sky Full Fibre 300 customers. Internet Calls are included as standard with Sky Talk, which is available with all Full Fibre broadband packages. End quote.
So this is why I am asking this question...."Internet phones" connect via the RJ45 data connections not the old type BT or RJ11 'UK' phone connections.
If an ATA is used that converts analog phones to VOIP phones that connect via the data connections.
Sky state "Internet calls are free" ..ie you don't pay for them.
but non Internet calls are only free weekends and evenings.
This is what I mean by contradicting answers ...so you are talling me the sales people lied ? and the statement above I've pasted is a lie? It says Internet calls are free ...not they are free sometimes..
Definite answer to this needed not more contradictory answers.
I'm assuming the "phone " connections on the max hub don't convert the phone to full voip ..just send some other way.
Internet calls are either free or they aren't..it can't be both

Never heard of that before.
To add: Sky is a VOIP provider in most areas. The Internet calls service is free, but calls aren't. That's how Sky usually present it.

An unfortunately common cause of confusion.
Where no PSTN service is available for an ISP to order, as will be the case nationally in a couple of years time, by definition landline calls are VoIP, and 'Sky Talk Internet Calls' is indeed a 'free' service and listed as such on Sky billing.
However, actually making outbound calls (apart from to the the usual freephone numbers) has an unpleasantly high cost per minute if one of the optional inclusive minutes add-ons* isn't on the broadband account: the default bundled voice product called 'Sky Talk Pay As You Talk' which is a bit of a clue.
*'Sky Talk Evenings and Weekends Extra', 'Sky Talk Anytime Extra' or 'Sky Talk International Extra'

Not how it was presented to me! Or how it's presented online ...it states internet CALLS are free ...not internet calls SERVICE is free!
This whole project is due to the fact we have FOUR sky mobile accounts! and sky piggy back off O2 ...two months ago both O2 phone masts failed leaving us with zero signal...O2 contacted said 48 hrs ...48 hrs later said 5 days... 5 days later said 10 days ...now they say it doesn't work and will no longer update me? So internet calling and wifi calling which sky offer is our only option.
Was scheduled for install last week ..all kit and two tv boxes .. open reach contractor arrived on time...but unable to install as he carried no cabling apart from short cables to connect optical box and router...TVs are both downstairs. Existing hub upstairs. Said needed full openreach crew install as they do cabling not him and said two days.
Open reach now saying two weeks.. cable tv we have now and wired phones due to be disconnected leaving us with nothing...
Now you're saying free Internet calls aren't free?????
Going from bad to worse.
I'll be calling sky tomorrow and they'll either sort it or the whole lot including 4 mobile phone contracts will be cancelled....can't get a straight answer to a simple question !

Yes ...there is a paying side but on that part of sky talk weekends and evenings free.
But it also states where sky are able to offer full fibre, internet calls are free and there is no charge for this with or without a talk package? you pay the same price!

Given the username & "my area" comment, are you in Eire? If so maybe things are different there.

Can't be RoI if it's an Openreach installation.

As I mentioned, Sky really doesn't help with user confusion on this topic.
Your Sky Talk package will come with Internet Calls if you have one of our Full Fibre Gigafast, Full Fibre 500, Full Fibre 300, Full Fibre 150, Full Fibre 100 or Full Fibre 75 broadband packages. And you might get Internet Calls if you have Sky Broadband Superfast – we’ll let you know when you choose your package.
There’s no extra charge for Internet Calls, our Broadband & Talk packages cost the same whether you have Internet Calls or not.

Note this does NOT say making calls is free, but it can easily be misinterpreted that way.

Why on earth would you think I'm in Eire? No ...Midlands...and yes as the user name implies we actually have two Deloreans, two of about 400 in UK and we're part of the UK biggest owners club.

What has openreach got to do with it? They are the specified installer by Sky...no option and not our choice
