I live in a rented property and about to upgrade to fibre. I asked a lot of questions about install before hand and now I'm confused. They said that switching to fibre wasn't going to look much different to the install we currently have and now I'm seeing a big white box fixed to the wall next to the existing master socket and plug socket. Can someone help me with what the internal install is going to look like. I don't want to get to get told off by my landlord

FTTP installation almost always involves both a passive external wall mounted box (the CSP) and an internal mains powered one (the ONT) plus drilling through a wall to get the new optical cable inside. In a rented property you'd definitely want permission in advance of this, although from the perspective of a landlord the availability of Ultrafast broadband actually makes the property more valuable.

The issue is typically that the word 'fibre' gets applied to both FTTC over an existing copper connection and wall socket, and FTTP requiring new cabling and other infrastructure plus a hole in the wall.
Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which provisioning type is applicable.

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.
