Sky left elderly parents with no phone or internet

My elderly in-laws had a problem with there phone and broadband the line was extremely noisy and broadband kept cutting out, as both my in-laws are hard of hearing my wife is a named person when speaking to sky, a few weeks ago she rang them when visiting (we live 2 hours away) and at first they tried to sell her a new package which she didn't want or need then said the issue was the router and would send a new one, I went down last week very sceptical as the line was that crackly there clearly is a fault, the new router made no difference and would not even connect to internet, I put the old one one which worked randomly, my wife rang again and was told an engineer would come, yesterday my wife got a call from her mum on a borrowed mobile as she has no mobile her self stating the sky man had been changed lots of cables, put a new telephone socket on with a new cable through the bedroom, main socket was in hall, now the phone and internet doesn't work at all, the sky man said btopenreach will have to come and he can't tell them when, she was very upset as she relies heavily on the phone line,  absolutely shocking service from sky to leave a vulnerable person like this, my wife is trying to sort but being so far away and trying to get this resolved is  very stressful, we don't even know if anyone from openreach is going to attend, I also can't understand why it was working even though not good sky attend do some work and make it worse, can anyone advise on best course of action

@fergin12 Have the person at home try to connect a phone on the NEW MASTER socket, not knowing the specific type and that the wiring has been done correctly, there is a good chance on that socket alone that the phone may work. You need to call sky and get this sorted asap....

Thanks, phoned sky and they are trying to sort, but they don't know what the sky engineer did and are confused why they left them with no phone or internet even though it was working before

This isnt great to be honest, not sure how the engineer has come & made it worse, then left.
