@PhoebeR So did you get a speed advice when you got and ordered,ie 40/10 or 80/20 split, on a copper line which NEEDS a phone socket, or yes you are in a full fibre area and we need to come fit new equipment.

Use the BTW site, put the address details number postcode etc and see if it say's yes your are in a FF area....

BT Broadband

@PhoebeR Find your phone socket! As you say you are in an apartment can you not ask one off your next door, by the way do you know where the telephone socket is, if you have one?

I'll ask my neighbours. We've been round the whole flat and can't find anything yet. Will keep looking to see if we can locate it.

@PhoebeR Remember to look in cupboards utility rooms etc, sometimes they can be in the most obscure places.... It may even be a combined data centre socket, TV phone satellite etc, just some ideas....

Re: Sky hub setup but don’t have a main phone socket

We have looked everywhere an cannot find it. Checked with neighbours and then looked in mine and it's not where theirs is.

should I contact open reach?

Re: Sky hub setup but don’t have a main phone socket

@PhoebeR Openreach will not entertain you in the slightest, all contact has to be via sky for you, if there is no socket then sky need to arrange that for you, there will be a charge, and i think it is around the £150 mark to get one fitted.

Are you just new to the flat, do you think that Virgin Media had a cable connection, it is unusual for sky to sell if there is NOT a known or previous connection, but your address checker did confirm when you checked....

Re: Sky hub setup but don’t have a main phone socket

Yes all confirmed. The previous owner had sky as well hence why I thought it would be fine.

I'll attach a photo showing my cupboard vs neighbours to show where the box is supposed to be.

Re: Sky hub setup but don’t have a main phone socket

@PhoebeR Will take a look when the photo's get cleared for viewing, are you sure the previous owner had sky broadband, and may be that is was just sky sat dish or along those lines. No phone connection unless for some reason it all got disconnected by the previous owner and they pulled all the cable out. Do you know if phone comes from a pole or underground, always difficult to say with a block off flats. If there was previous may not be too difficult for OR to re-instate the line back into the property. Time will be the issue and you could end up waiting weeks to get it all done.

Re: Sky hub setup but don’t have a main phone socket

Thank you. On the forms filled out by the previous owner they state they had sky as the internet provider. I'm going to ask the agent I bought through to email them for further clarification.

I'm okay waiting for now as can use my mobile data at the moment.

Not sure how it comes into the building, going to speak to the managing agents when their office opens Monday.

Re: Sky hub setup but don’t have a main phone socket

@PhoebeR You are probably good, and that is only a blanking plate with the cable sitting behind it, if so then OR will put a socket exactly the same as the other picture and connect the cable to the new socket, will be a central connection point somewhere and OR will trace and connect up the other end.
