I have been trying to download a game on my ps5 which is connected by ethernet directly to the sky hub. However, whenever I do this the whole hub crashes, the connection drops and all the lights go out but one goes red. After 1 min it reconnects and is back to all green. I have the 900mbs service. Has anyone else had this issue?

I can confirm that I tried 3 of the black routers, all had the same issue. Luckily enough I managed to phone up and get through to someone who would humor me and let me test the newer max hub, they did this by signing me up to max for 1 month then cancelling it after I received the router. I then phoned back after proving my theory it was the router and argued if it's a defect with their hardware it should be upgraded for free (without the features you get from max) and they agreed.
It is the hardware that's the issue, it only happens on very niche cases that 99% of users will never hit which is why I assuming they never acted up what I reported, even though the customer service people said they would report it internally.

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
@John_92 a download file should never crash the router so thst is weird assuming the hub is otherwise stable. I assume you are downloading from a legitimate server as it is **bleep**ible the hub was being subject to an attack if the server was let us say "unoffical"?

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
Thanks for the reply. Yeah it's a game directly off the Sony store on the PlayStation, all legitimate. I have read another post on this forum from 2022 of someone else having this issue the same issue as I have described however they did not comment on how they resolved it.

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
Are you able to see what happens if you use WiFi instead of ethernet?

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
@jamesn123 it does work through WiFi, I phoned sky and they are sending a replacement hub out as they think it could be a fault. Will update when I test the new hub.

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
@jamesn123 Replacement hub has the same issue. However I have narrowed it down to when I am remote playing on the ps5 downloading a game and the ps5 is wired through ethernet. I suspect the load must be too much for the socket and it panic resets itself

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
Have you tried replacing the ethernet cable between the router and PS5, if it was faulty and shorting then that would cause an issue per the symptoms you have described.

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
@mae-3 new cable didn't help, I phoned sky again and they tried to blame it on too much bandwidth (I am on the gigafast package). I suggested to try the new sky hub max hub and see if the change of hardware works, so will update when that comes

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
@mae-3 sky hub max worked, functions perfectly now. They have agreed to let me keep the max hub for free but turn off the additional benefits that max usually comes with. They are going to investigate the issue.

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
Nice to know, and generally it is a better router Sky Max than the antiquated previous Sky Hub routers.

Re: Sky hub crashes when downloading large files
Mines been doing the same. It seems the sky hubs can't handle sustained downloads close to the full 900 without crashing more often than a Spectrum 48k!!!
How did you go about getting them to send the max hub?
Why don't they jist send that one in the first place as its clear the black one can't handle the bandwidth. The guy who installed our ONT even said it wasn't up to it when I told him I was getting the 900gbps package!!!
