Sky gigafast being installed in two weeks

Hi im moving from virgin 1 gig to sky gigafast. Wjats the best bang for buck wifif 6 router i can buy to replace the sky router and do any of these alternative routers come plug and play ?

All work etherneted to the sky hub if you wish to retain internet calls or directly etherneted to the ont if you don't mind losing your internet calls

The above assumes you are in the uk

P.S. for the above you would need initially firmware update the asus sequentially until it doesn't update anymore whilst etherneted to the sky hub

Then remove sky hub and ethernet the asus to the ont and locate client identifier (option 61) and type in :-

anything@skydsl|anything

That should be sufficient to authenticate with sky servers

Personally i would recommend asus rt ax58u or above to get the best of the increase range and speed of the wifi 5 ac channels and the wifi 6 ax channels

The rt ax58u is around £150 whilst the others range up to > £200-£250

Good choice . 👍 Get back to us when it arrives and a few of us can talk you thru setup although it is pretty much (almost) plug and play .

Also don't forget to download the asus router app for android or ios as it makes it easier to control advanced features
