Sky full fibre its awful

I've recently switched to sky full fibre 150 (its never anywhere near 150) from BT full fibre. Sky's connection is awful, constantly loosing connection to the Internet and such a poor signal even when your in the same room as the router. I had BT for over three years and didn't once have a problem. Today alone our Internet has cut out over 10 times and then reconnected after a minute or two. Had many calls with the IT team, yesterday's advice was why am I using WiFi to work from home, I should be using an ethernet cable to guarantee a connection so they will post me an ethernet cable (free of charge, that's nice of them, I didn't even request one!) Just warning others that no matter what deal you are offered to switch, I honestly would not use this full fibre. Of course by the time you get through to someone on the phone they say 'your connection looks fine'... as if I would waste hours of my time calling them just for the fun of it. The equipment is cheap. BTs router was brilliant and as I say, absolutely no problems. I now have a link to change the Internet channel so every day I'm expected to scour the 13 channels to see if I can get a connection.. I've literally never heard anything so rediculous. Really poor service from sky I'm afraid and now stuck with it for 2 years.

@KP32 And on the other flip side, i moved from EE to Sky FF500 connection with a dumb FW update that EE did and messed up a perfectly good working EE Smarthub+ router to a sky hub and have never missed a beat in all that time!

Re: Sky full fibre its awful

The speed to the hub and the WiFi signal from the hub are 2 separate issues.

The first thing I would check is the WiFi speed at the hub using an ethernet cable. If the speed is as expected then it is likely to be weak WiFi signal from the hub.

Sky and other ISPs can provide equipment for improving the WiFi signal around your home.  BT's hub may have been a better hub for WiFi.

I would suggest contacting Sky re boosting the WiFi signal.

Alternatively, investing money & time in setting up your own mesh system maybe useful.

While this will not address the issue of speed at the hub it deals with the range of your WiFi. Also you can use your mesh with other providers.

It has been well worth the effort and expense for me as my house has 3 storeys and WiFi reaches into garden and a detached garage.

@KP32 We all have different experiences with broadband providers. I'm with you on Sky being awful. Out of all the providers I've used over the years they come bottom.
