Sky broadband shield with tp link router

I've just replaced my sky hub and sky booster with a tp link vr2800 and tp link extender as my WiFi was awful pretty much anywhere apart from the room the sky hub was in.

I have sky q and q minis also.

everything seems to be working fine and it's fixed my WiFi problems though I now seem to have a content filtering problem I don't know how to solve.

I have 3 young kids in the house and used to use sky broadband shield on the sky iPhone app and it worked well. I used it to filter out adult content and things like that and it worked on all devices nicely.

it doesn't seem to work now. Maybe silly question - should sky shield work with any router or is it only their hub? Ie is it blocking what's coming to the house or was it a setting that changed something on their hub?

it's a big a problem and something I wish I'd looked at before going to tp link. There's talk of a dns based solution on their sites but looks fiddly and the broadband shield worked well for me and didn't require blocking specific sites etc.

Tp link should have parental controls and firewall light years ahead of sky broadband shields which only works with the sky hub

Re: Sky broadband shield with tp link router

From what I can see the tp link functionality allows you to enter a blacklist or whitelist.

either way it would mean having to add every site that contained adult content. There's some keyword option too but still doesn't offer the simple option from sky shield to block any adult content.
