Sky broadband live today, doesn’t work with UDM Pro

Hi everyone 

 

I have read the previous threads on this but am still confused, so apologies for being a bit thick, but could really do with an answer I can understand as a non techie. 

we have a UDM pro in our house with a few APs because there is so much steel in the building it was the only way to get a signal in all the rooms. 

 

Up to now have been with plus.net and all has worked flawlessly. 

changed to sky broadband (fttc) and that went live this morning. Plugged it all in. The sky modem has a connection and I can join it on my phone if I stand near to it. But the UDM just shows as no internet connection and I can't connect on the app.

I've read through the posts on here but I'm confused about what I need to do to setting to get this to work. 

please could someone help me?

Ubiquiti hardware isn't exactly non-technical: did you carry out the set-up with the Plusnet connection yourself?

 

As a start, I'd imagine it's quite possible the UDM currently has an inappropriate IP address inherited from the previous configuration.

I inherited it all when I moved in. I've found that if I leave it alone and only do updates using the screen on the udm, everything keeps working. I didn't think switching broadband would be an issue, but reading through here, I can see it is. I wonder if it's worth going and getting DrayTek modem quickly and seeing if that makes things easier?

A basic issue might well be that Plusnet uses a default router/gateway address of 192.168.1.254 while for Sky it's 192.168.0.1, so if the UDM was hard-set for a Plusnet configuration then the devices just aren't currently communicating at all.

That would still involve a significant degree of messing around.  Personally I think I might be tempted to try moving the IP address of the Sky Hub to 192.168.1.254 using its own administrative settings: that's easily reverted if it doesn't work out.

It's also possible that the UDM is set up to get an IP address from whatever ISP router is in use, in which case the issue may resolve itself when the current IP lease renews.

Just a quick update. 

i bought a Draytek Vigor 167 and it was delivered today. I disconnected the sky router and installed the Draytek in its place, connecting it to the UDM Pro. While i was getting ready to then follow the advice onfound elsewhere regarding DHCP 61 and user names/passwords, before I had a chance to do so, everything just started working. I didn't need to make any changes to settings to the Draytek or the UDM Pro. I'm not sure if it will continue to work, but so far, so good.
