Sky broadband hub voice setting disconnects

Every so often the voice light setting on my sky broadband hub turns from green to red/ orange, leaving the remaining lights - power, Internet and WiFi- on green. In this state I am unable to connect to WiFi or Internet until I manually reboot the hub by switching off and on at the mains. For some reason it always goes down overnight, never during the day.

 

I realise that this is a minor inconvenience compared to some of the issues others are experiencing but I am keen to understand what is going wrong here and why. Why does the voice setting go down for no obvious reason? Why can't it reset itself without a full reboot? Why can't I access the Internet or WiFi in this state when the lights for those settings remain green? And is there anything I can do to prevent this from reoccurring?

@HOWARDWWWHave you changed any of the settings on the router. There is an eco setting that you can change to always on. Do you also have Sky Q?

This sounds like a long standing issue due to a loss of IPv6 with the hub 4.2 on FTTP.

The good news is that firmware 7.04.0004.R has been rolled out to all customers this week to resolve this.

If you find that the update hasn't been applied to your router, a reset should prompt the installation of this.

Thanks for your swift response.

 

I haven't changed any setting on the router since it was posted to me when we were upgraded to full fibre optic back in Feb/March this year. Prior to that our landlines was not plugged directly into the router.

Thanks for your helpful reply. I have reset the router as advised and all is well for now. The problem only arose infrequently so it will be some time before I can be sure that it's fixed but here's hoping.....

@HOWARDWWW  If you can get on to the router before you restart to get this information it will help out to see if there is anything going on with the connection to cause the drop in the voice connection.
