Afternoon all. I have Sky Ultrafast 1 and have a Sky Booster connected to my router via a 20m Cat5e cable (the white one). Wired speed test shows the booster is receiving full speed, but the WiFi is slow from the booster. I should add that WiFi from the router is fine. Is it possible my phone is connecting to my router rather than the booster?

There are multiple versions of boosters is the one you the same shape as your hub?

Hi @Chrisee - thanks for the reply. It's the 210 I think, the white one that looks like the SR203 hub. Tried powering down the hub for a few mins and turning wifi on and off on my phone (S23 Ultra) and still getting slow download speeds. Upload is fine. Very odd!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Giggsy1977 you do have the right type so it is a bit odd. I have never been a fan of boosters but like you I would expect a booster connected by ethernet should provide decent output assuming it is a gigabit connection not through a powerline adapteror similar.

Cat5e from router to booster. Wifi on router is as it should be. Ethernet from booster is as it should be. Upload from booster over wifi is as it should be. Only download from wifi is the problem. Can you access the booster like you can the router? Change channels and the like?

Hi @Chrisee - you're right, there is no Web interface. Powered it down, connected to the hub across the house, powered it up again, my phone connected to it and still had slow wifi. I noticed on my laptop today it was connected via 802.11n when the network card in the laptop is ac. It's as if something has changed in the booster. Very odd!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Giggsy1977 well that would help explain the issue. Sky's boosters have offered Wifi 5 (ac) since 2016. As your phone also connects slowly itvsounds like a firmware issue with the booster so perhaps call Sky if they provided the booster.

@Chrisee - I tell a lie, managed to get into the web interface.
but using either admin/sky or admin/my password doesn't let me login to the other pages available. Maybe Sky will help despite me no longer paying for broadband boost as it was.
