Sky booster SE210 not connecting to new SkyHub 4.2

Yesterday I was disconnected from my old Superfast Sky broadband (50mbps)  and connected to Ultrafast fibre (150mbps) broadband with a new Openreach Optical Network Terminal in the wall and a new Skyhub 4.2 sent by Sky. The broadband is working fine and is certainly alot faster.

However we have 2 Sky booster boxes (SE210) in the house to improve the wifi signal, and these will not connect to the Skyhub 4.2. The green power light and wifi light is on, but the light in the middle ("Connected") is not on. I have followed the recommended procedure for connecting the boosters to a hub (pressing the WPA buttons on the side of the Skyhub 4.2 and on the side of the Sky booster at the same time), but this has not fixed it.

Does anyone know whether the problem is that the new  Skyhub 4.2 is not compatible with the old Sky booster SE210 ? If so then I dont understand why Sky did not tell me about this and offer me boosters that are compatible when they sold me the new contract

Thanks

You'd want to reset each individually, then use WPS pairing sequentially.

@rod

The Broadband Hub and Broadband Booster are definitely compatible because they were designed together: that's why they are the almost exactly the same shape (but different colour plastic)

@rod if your new hub is black try resetiing the boosters by pressing and holding in the reset pin until the power light flsshes.

The old boisters are not compatable withbthe new hub 6 but thst is white so easily didtinguishable.

Re: Sky booster SE210 not connecting to new SkyHub 4.2

thanks alot - eternally greatful! Reset each first, then WPS together fixed it for one booster not the other. Have to go out now but will repeat later or try with booster in a different place

On your sky q boxes disable the 2.5gb signal as it conflicts between 5g and 2.5g on the sky systems .we had that issue since doing that no more drop outs .no need to do it on connected devices only the sky q kits.

Re: Sky booster SE210 not connecting to new SkyHub 4.2

hi lucy. Having forgotten to do so back in August, i have actually just managed to get my 2nd booster box linked using the procedure outlined earlier by other helpful folk. But still interested in your suggestion in case the booser drops again. I can find out where to make the change you have suggested. Is it in settings on Sky on the TV or somewhere else on the menu?

@rod do not turn off tge 2.4GHz band on your set up unless you have conflicts. Sky reommend leaving the wifi bands set to their defaults to get the best coverage.

Re: Sky booster SE210 not connecting to new SkyHub 4.2

This was done for us by a sky engineer as the conflicts are the q main box and the mini box ."not the router" they was fighting each other for better signal forcing drop outs .now they communicate via 5g signal alone they dont drop out .

Re: Sky booster SE210 not connecting to new SkyHub 4.2

I've tried to connect my Sky Max Hub to my SE 210 booster with no success. Outside lights on. Tried pressing WPS on both so they're flashing, reset the SE210 and pressing WPS on both with no success. Also tried pressing the WPS on my Sky q box

@IanC66 You will not be able to pair the SE to the Max, but try reducing the WPA mode on the max hub down to WPA2-PSK using the app to do so, WPS connection mode is different when using the MAX, once done give it a go again and have BOTH units next to each other!

Thanks for your reply. Where do I find that on the app

Re: Sky booster SE210 not connecting to new SkyHub 4.2

@IanC66 Look here on the link! But do try sitting them next to each other first before going any further! takes about 5 minutes for them to pair correctly, and if you hold the WPS on the max TOO long it factory reset's it so couple second push and let it go, middle off the button light starts to flash for WPS mode on each off them!
