Re: Sky blocking connection to my email server

@Sharkattack021  Hi. I had a similar problem and ended up using Outlook, but here is another method.

Blocking AOL's scripts on Sky Business' network might involve a few different approaches depending on the network setup, the specific scripts you're targeting, and the level of control over the network. Below are some possible solutions:

1. Firewall Rules: Blocking Specific Domains/IPs: Use firewall rules to block specific domains or IP addresses associated with AOL scripts.

  • URL Filtering: If the scripts are hosted on specific URLs, configure URL filtering on your firewall to block access to those URLs.

2. DNS Filtering:

  • Custom DNS Rules: Use a custom DNS server that blocks specific domains related to AOL. You can set up DNS blacklisting to block the resolution of AOL-related domains.

3. Proxy Server:

  • Content Filtering: If you use a proxy server, enable content filtering to block specific scripts by identifying keywords or patterns in the URLs.
  • Script Blocking: Configure the proxy to block or strip specific types of content (like JavaScript) from being delivered to users.

4. Browser Extensions:

  • Script Blocking Extensions: If the issue is on a user level, consider deploying browser extensions like uBlock Origin or NoScript on users' browsers, which can block AOL scripts on the client side.

5. Web Filter Appliances:

  • Dedicated Appliances: If your network uses a web filter appliance (like a Barracuda Web Filter), configure it to block scripts or domains associated with AOL.

6. Group Policy: (for Windows Networks)

  • Active Directory Group Policy: If you're managing a Windows-based network, you can use Group Policy to enforce specific browser settings or to deploy browser extensions that block unwanted scripts.

7. Router-Level Blocking:

  • URL Blacklist: If the router allows for URL blacklisting, add the AOL script URLs to the blacklist to prevent them from being accessed by anyone on the network.

8. Custom Scripts:

  • Network Scripts: If you have advanced control, write custom scripts that identify and block specific patterns of traffic associated with AOL scripts.

9. Content Security Policy: (CSP)

  • Enforce CSP: Implement a Content Security Policy on web servers you control, which can block scripts from unauthorised sources, including AOL.

10. SSL Inspection:

  • Inspect Encrypted Traffic: If AOL scripts are delivered over HTTPS, set up SSL inspection on your firewall or proxy to filter out these scripts even in encrypted traffic.

These solutions can be implemented individually or in combination, depending on your network setup and the level of control required.

@Cougartech @Opened an outlook account and and my email address to it 😊. Even in the new style outlook it worked fine ever since.

Pleased to learn but that is a work-around rather than a solution.

Yahoo has all but finished when in 2017  I think, so all I have is my work round and a way to fix Java script.

Re: Sky blocking connection to my email server

The only solution I've found is to use a VPN when sending from Outlook. That seems to work fine.

Re: Sky blocking connection to my email server

Yeap, that works, as I use BT which is also a VPN as it uses different locations, currently I'm in Kent 😂
