I recently upgraded my broadband subscription to Sky Wi-Fi Max. The Wifi range is significantly poorer than experienced on my old router. I contacted Sky who recommended I turn off Sky Broadband Shield as this can affect WiFi performance - this sounds rather strange, so I am asking if anyone else has been provided with such a suggestion and whether it worked.

Complete nonsense, I'd suggest.
Broadband Shield is upstream internet filtering, and it's difficult to imagine how that could possibly affect local WiFi.
Edit: actually, I guess that really significant on-router processing might have a detrimental impact on other functionality, but as far as I know Shield doesn't operate locally.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet - will update this forum once I know if it has any affect, but I'm not hopeful!

Tried turning off Broadband Shield. As expected, no discernible difference, so contacted a Sky engineer who has organised delivery of a booster.
