Sky Renewal - Ultrafast

Looking to renew my Broadband and upgrade from FTC to FTP that is now available. As a single resident I would be happy with Superfast via Full Fibre as the postcode on the website says I could get 75Mbs with a 50Mbs Minimum Gteed which would be fine. However Sky say that its not available for me as an existing customer and need to take on Ultrafast giving me 145Mbs with a Min Gteed 100, this is an extra £5 a month. However using my neighbours info who isn't with Sky Superfast on Full Fibre would be available. Anyone else experienced this or got Superfast on Full Fibre. What your views, do I need 145Kbs?? Currently my FTC is a max of 15Mbs so do need to change..... Thanks in advance.

@CliversIs this the price that you are being quoted on the website for ulterfast 1.  I had FTTC, but found it cheaper to go ultrafast 1. It is better give Sky a call and talk to them and you might find that you can get it cheaper and then you have options rather than doing it just through the website.

If someone has helped give them Like.

@Clivers until Openreach change your exchange's status to where new connections are required to be fibre Sky would have to pay to get your line upgraded so keeping you on FTTC is cheaper for them. At some point all lines will be transferred as the copper network is decommisioned in stages until then you get anomlaies like this one.

If your current speed is 15Mb/s then you gave a mighty long line between you and the cabinet so plenty of aged copper cable and joints to cause issues especially if it runs on poles. FTTP is far more reliable and normally gives lower latency if you game. Your current speeds are not high enough to stream anything better than HD video and downloads will take an age for £5 per month I would make the switch but Its up to you.
