I have rebooted router numerous times, wifi keeps failing with slow speed, ethernet is fine at 39-40mbps but wifi is at moment 2.2mbps, I managed to get to 6mbps but went low again, should be at 38-40mbps, high wifi speeds last for a few days then gradually slow, sky q box, tv and other devices detected hub but could not connect to wifi for 1/2hr after reboot, after each reboot wifi speed will not increase to normal, rebooted all equipment, sky originally said it was signal strength so sent me a booster which was ok for week or so but now gone slow again. even sky q box with booster 2ft away and hub 8ft -10ft away, on hub reboot with a reset of sky q and could not connect for 1/2hr, Sky q box originally stated after wps reset, cannot detect wireless connection yet hub showing at highest strength signal, I tried netflix app, said internet connection not suitable to run this app, contact isp to upgrade???? I tried my old sky router and got 22mbps wifi. my wifi analyzer app on my phone says set to ch11 at 2.4ghz with excellent signal, but ch quality 9 out of 11 on best channels, not sure if this hub runs at 5 and 6ghz but does not show any signal

Just rechecked wifi speeds now crashed down to 0.87mbps using ookla app, has anybody else had this issue with the new high speed hub

Ethernet speed rechecked at 40.37mbps, line is rated at 54mbps, good speeds due to living a few yards from the exchange and line in cable and master socket was re-newed as needed line move

Sky say they are monitoring my line and trying to find a reason why this is happening as my speeds are below what Sky guaranteed so had a refund this month, my wifi speeds went down again last night to 0.89meg on all devices, I have found rather than rebooting the Hub, I have to reset and reconnect all devices and the speed goes up again, on my phone I did contant speedtests and each test went up in small increments upto 27meg, then I did reset/reconnect and then went to 38meg through my vpn. I do have a wifi analyser and it says it located three signals in the 2.4mhz band, it stated x2 are set to channel 11 and one channel 6, I'm guessing one is the hub and other is the booster, but do not know what the third one is, it scanned channel 11 and 6 as very poor channels rated at 10-20% quality, and said best were channels were 1, 2 & 3 which were rated at 80%, all channels in the 5ghz range were good but it could not detect any channels from my hub in that range, but I believe sky hub uses 5ghz? It also detected the neighbours wifi connections which show in the same channel range as sky, with one neighbour with a a sky router. I'm wondering if I need to change wifi channel to a better channel.

By default a current Sky Hub model (110/115 and 203/204) broadcasts the same SSID on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. The oldest in-support model is 2.4Ghz only.

Cannot figure out why x3 v2.4ghz channels are showing on the scan, unless my vpn on phone is acting as another wifi channel, but the main default channel is 11, but I know it uses 5ghz else I would not be able to stream uhd, but my scanner detects all channels at 100% but does not detect which channel my utra fast hub uses, only detercts in the 2.4mhz band, i'm getting a cat 8 cable to connect the booster via ethernet direct to my tv to see if that helps with that device, but still wondering if I should go into the main hub and change channels, but would i also have to change the channel on the booster or would wps set up do automatically?

To be honest have had no issues until open reach did some works on the phone lines a month or so ago

As far as I know there's no mechanism by which a user can manually change the band on which a booster is broadcasting: that's all handled automatically to match the Hub settings.

Sounds like your having the same problems I am. Hub 4.2, Q system hardwired. Everything works but then the speeds crash to nothing. Called sky and at first they said it had an issue then no issue then offered engineer visit on 9th jan which is pretty hopeless.
I used to be a sky engineer and have a good understanding of in home connectivity but to me this is line fault or router issue. Wireless channels have been shifted. Wireless network has been scanned and looks ok. Software updates also seem to make a mess and turn on wireless settings which have been previously been turned off.

At least not alone with this issue, so guess no point in changing channnel, I have never had major issues with ethernet connection that a month or so unplug, wait a minute or so then plug back in again always cures, odd times speed may go down to around 34meg from 40 thats when I do the unplug, but wifi is a nightmare at the moment, been fine tonight no speed drops but will not last, will be calling sky tomorrow, it even goes slow with booster, a reset and reconnect of all my devices cured it last time without hub reboot, the line in is new, when I first had the hub, I had major issues with drop outs and wireless devices not connecting especially to lg tv, but after line in renewed as open reach found fault never had any major issues after, its only been happening for month or so and only with wifi, I wonder if a recent software update could be causing issues, if wifi speed drops affect all devices at the same time then it must be a hub fault. I never had to have a booster with my old er115 yet have had to with this new hub, I thought the new hubs are supposed to have greater power and range, but on my analyser the wifi from next door neighbours router is just as strong as my hub

As @TimmyBGood explains each Sky unit broadcasts a dualband SSID. If you have Sky Boosters or Sky Q boxes each act as a wifi mesh node with the same SSID. Each node will use a different 2.4GHz channel assuning one is available therefore when I had 3 Q boxes and the 4 2.4 GHz signals filled the band on ch2, ch4, ch6 and ch10. You can only control tge ch used by the Hub change that to match one of your Q boxes that box will chaange channel. It is somewhat frustrating..
One of the other shortcomoings of the Sky mesh wifi system is that devices connect to the strongest wifi signal which often isnt the fastest. Spending a bit of time improving the backhaul connection of the nodes furthest from the hub is a sensible investment I used powerline adapters on my system which worked for me. My main Q box was in an area with very poor wifi signal from the hub and other nodes so had lousy backhaul. Connecting that box by powerline increased the wifi speeds for any devices using that hotspot. if you can use ethernet cable that is even better but you dont need anything better than cat5e cabelling which supports gigsbit ethernetat least up to 50m.
When testing speeds on a device you have to allow for the 8 to 10% lost due to network overheads so the maximum speed on a system connecting at 54Mb/s is around a maximum of 50Mb/s and probably a bit below that. I use an app called Wifi Sweetspots which measures the acrual speeds between the device and the hub removing any online issues. Walking round your home you can see the connection speed vary as the phone jumps to the strongest node.
One last point a wireless emitter close to the hub or node can cause significant loss of speed. I learnt this myself as I was setting up my own wifi network after installetion of a new fibre connection. I carefully tested the set up and I was getting wifi speeds 500Mb/s in my main room. I then set up my various other devices I use including a DECT cordless phone base station. Sat back to enjoy my new ultrafast system and found my 500Mb/s had droped to anything from 100Mb/s to 300Mb/s. It took me half an hour to figure out the problem which was solved by moving the phone base station a couple of feet which brought back my wifi speeds. Can also happen with baby alarms, wireless speaker systems etc etc
