So I'm using a 3ed party router and when I set up the sky q box, I've notice there is 2 MAC addresss. If I go on the Sky Q box, setting, it shows my MAC address yet apon connecting to my router it's a completely different MAC, if I go in my router and check it shows 2 MAC address for the SKY Q?
Why is this???

Thanks, from wired they said still 2 mac addresss. Just the person who designed it did not have a real clue. Think he must be doing the Sky TV Guide set up now.
Thanks

Anything that can be done about it?

Thanks, what about if I run a ethernet cable to the Sky Q, would it still have 2 MAC addresss?

Find out more@TrebleTA there is a physical mac address for each of the 3 network interfaces but the firmware generates a 4th vitual address which it reports to the router. It shouldn't cause any issues. As @TimmyBGood points out it is how the Airties mesh system Q uses works.

There was a way of preventing the Airties mesh starting but I can't remember what it was.
Edit -
There was a post on the Unifi (Ubiquiti - www.ui.com) forums a few years back which described the problem which I've just found :

Pretty sure you use the installer menu once the Sky Q minis are wired up and then you can disable the mesh completely.

Ive noticed sometimes it created a loop in my network (Like plugging 2 ends of an ethernet into the same switch/router/firewall), If your Router/Firewall supports it I would reccomend enabling Spanning Tree Protocol which will detect and stop L2 Loops in your network
