Sky Max Pod- wont connect and cant register on app
Hi,
I have the fibre 500 installed and have had a max pod sent out for an external office which is linked to the router via a cable from the house.
I followed the instruction, scanned the QR code to register the device, but MySky app will not find the pod on the netwowrk or allow me to enter the serial number onthe back of the pod manually, and says gives me an error message.
I called sky and got their tech dept. Many resets of the router and 45 mins later, i got no result. A sky engineer has been booked for the 2nd April, which is a full month after i had the fibre installed.
There is no information on this topic on the internet for me to research, so to say im frustrated is an understatement.
I was told as a diamond VIP member (28 yrs with SKY) I would have some resolve by the end of the call, but this wasnt the case, and must wait for an engineer.
I work from home so this is not an ideal situation.
Anyone have a similar issue and get its resolved?

Re: Sky Max Pod- wont connect and cant register on app
As i need to get this resolved before the engineer comes out, Im even considering a TP link wifi extender from Argos.
Wil this work?

was that desperate, i went out and bought a tp link extender , model RE315. Works fine with both 2.4 and 5ghz.

This is tge reason your sky router keeps disconnecting to things...
Hi all.
My previous set up was Sky ultrafast 70mb. 3x sky q mini boxes, and a garage converted to an office 20m away from main house via physical ethernet cable.
I have been running this for around 8 years without issue only speed as an issue.
I switched to sky fibre 500, all installed by Sky and i needed a sky pod to act as an extender which was on order and arrived swiftly.
Then the problems started..
The ring doorbell and cameras eould drop connection, sky q minis the same.
i recieved the sky pod but dedpit everything it wouldnt register via the mysky app. I even tried while on the phone to sky. scanning the qr code failed, input the setial number failed. multiple times over 4 days. i really tried but the pod wouldnt register. . so sky booked an engineer to see me 40 days after starting with fibre.
The sky engineer arrived 40 mins before he was due, and it turns out he had logged into my router from his van and changed some security settings.
I told him the issues and he managed to register the pod IMMEDIATELY.
I then plugged this into my external.office building and recieved 520mbps.
The takeaway from all this?
The security settings. The new router uses WPA3, which the majority of older tech doesnt use. When the engineer changed it to WPA2, everything changed
The sky pod connected, my ring doorbell, my work laptop, everything.
This is the piece of info you are missing.
Dont be made to wait 40 days like me.
Log into your router and make the change yourself.
I have made a copy of this post should this be taken down, and will make it available via social media.
