Sky Hub Serial Numbers - Date of Manufacture?

Hi All

Having received my new replacement Sky Hub SR203 yesterday (many thanks Sky Tech Support), I noticed that the new replacement hub has an additional settings page, which my original SR203 doesn’t have:

• Advanced, Remote Management

This is curious as there must have been internal manufacturing specification changes to the SR203’s over time, which the software updates don’t always include on their own.

Is there any way to decode a Sky Hub’s serial number in order to ascertain its date of manufacture?

Also does anyone know if there is a in depth user manual for the SR203 around anywhere – especially covering the ‘Advanced’ settings?

@THX1138 For sure there is no user manual of any type. Not sure about the seial number to manufacture date, packaging box has 2022 on it if off any use!

Interested to see if you still have ddns option.  My hub has ddns ( now deemed insecure) but no additional remotemanagement that i can see.  It would suggest that it is a featute that can't be delivered by firmware upgrade

I think that means it's running an older firmware release which will be updated automatically and the option will disappear.  Remote access in the way it used to be implemented isn't compliant with the recent regulation on secure internet devices (under the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022)

The firmware in place when it arrived should give you a clue.  Launch of the SR203 was September 2019.  Earliest reported firmware I can find is 3.04.1462.R, from November of that year.  That appears to be the earliest mention of the DDNS situation.

@Deb3000 Wonder how many changes there has been since that time? Have noted and Mar 2025 fw on the box was 7.02.0501.R when received and setting it up offline.

When I first connected the new replacement hub it was on an earlier firmware version, but it subsequently did an update after being switched on for a while to 7.04.0004.R, which I believe is just behind the most current version 7.04.0100.R.

@TimmyBGood  Let’s see what happens when the 7.04.0100.R update is installed and see if the ‘Remote Management’ page disappears.

@cookiemonsteruk  The new hub I was sent shows the same DSL Firmware Version as yours - A2pvfbH043p1.d26u.

@TimmyBGood  As if by magic, hub updated overnight to 7.04.0100.R and the ‘Remote Management’ page has vanished.

@JimM1  The old SR203 – it was an early unit, was experiencing some weird Wi-Fi issues, like randomly losing the SSID names and settings and slow 5GHz 80MHz ch36 performance when only being 1 meter away. The Sky Tech Support person did a remote check of the hub and said he would send out a new one – not sure what he discovered.

Probably a dumb question, but is there any preferred ethernet port (1,2,3,4) to use for the ONT ethernet cable to plug into? I also upgraded this cable to Cat6.

@THX1138 If you are FF then it can only go into port 4 on the lan, furthest right as you look at the back off the hub. See the picture above?

@JimM1   Yeap, that's the port I've used and connected the ONT to - Port 4 (WAN). Thanks for the confirmation.
