Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
Plan: Full Fibre Gigabit
Model:SR213
Hardware Revision: HUB6 v1
For two weeks now, my Sky Router’s LAN ports have been outputting 100Mbps, but my devices are registering a 10/100/1000Mbps connection speed and the wireless connection is still working perfectly. I was foolishly too quick to dismiss the possibility of a problem with my router’s settings so went about replacing everything without success. After that didn't work I had a glance.
All three LAN Ethernet ports display “Connection Speed: 100 Mbps.” This entire time the problem has been with the hub. I feel like an idiot. I searched online for a solution but I couldn’t find anything other than one post mentioning that an update had fixed the issue, what should I do now?
Thing I've tried:
- Replacing cables.
- Replacing Switch.
- Factory resetting the hub.
- Crying into a pillow.
Thanks.

@LatelyFebruary You have not set the hub to fast ethernet per chance or using cables with only 4 connections on the Ethernet ports, if you have a 100Mb/s switch attached to the hub then that is all it will sync at also.

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I've seen this setting but cant seem to find it anywhere? I think it's only older models that may have it. All wires are brand new 1000BASE-T. As for the switch, it's showing 1000Mb for all outputs.

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
@LatelyFebruary So where do you see the connection speed as 100Mb/s?

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
In the actual router settings under Hardware > LAN, all three are reporting "Connection Speed: 100 Mbps"

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
@LatelyFebruary Is this something that is shown via an app connection, to the Sky Max hub? If you connect a 1Gb/s nic device on the port direct ie like a laptop and it shows you a 1000/1000 sync speed, then what do you get as a speed test via that method?

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
It's shown on the routers admin page.

That's the strange part, all the devices are showing a 1000Mb link speed, but when I run a test I can visibly see it throttle itself when it's about to surprass 100Mb and then it sits at around 97Mbps (both up and down are almost identical).
I've tested a few different devices and eliminated the possibility of it being the switch because the exact same is true with a direct connection to the router. Just to reiterate the wireless connection is immaculate (910Mbps) so the data has no problem reaching my router at a reasonable speed, but the LAN will only output 100Mbps.

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
@LatelyFebruary Does sound like that is the case, have you tried an internal ethernat transfer between two devices on the Sky Hub itself, as it may be as you suspect Ports are getting clamped, if it is a FW issue then Sky would know.

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
So if you connect a single device directly to the ethernet port on the Sky hub (not via switch) what does the connection status show on the device? E.G in Windows what does the ethernet adapter show? Can you provide a screenshot?

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
Thank you to everybody that got back to me.
So I’m not entirely sure what the issue was but I attempted to set up a netgear router I had lying around then quickly realised it didn't support DHCPv4 61.
During this time, I rerouted a few cables for the sake of organisation and used some canned air to dust off the Netgear router. I then blasted the Sky Hub too. After reconnecting the original Hub I was pleasantly surprised to see it was now transferring at 1000Mbps again.
I genuinely have no idea what it was that actually fixed it but if anybody ever has a similar issue and comes across this post try these three things:
- Unplug the router for 10 - 15 minutes.
- Reroute Ethernet away from cables and power banks.
- Use compressed air to blast the LAN ports.
Once again thank you guys, enjoy your evening 🙂

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
@LatelyFebruary With the post earlier, does it still show connected at the 100Mb/s as before, that is the confusing part and asked to do the internal transfer, could have just been the hub had to be off a while to dump it's stuff out.

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
On the admin webpage it's now listed as 1000Mbps, I think you're correct. Allowing it to reset properly was probably the solution here, but hey I'm not going to rule out electrical interference or dust either despite it being highly unlikely.

Re: Sky Hub LAN ports are only outputting 100Mb
Been plenty of posts on the forum previously about the Sky hub struggling to negotiate ethernet speeds properly so this probably explains it
