Sky Hub Crashes Everytime I Download

I upgraded to Gigafast last year and been having intermitent issues, but very recently I have started to get issues when downloading large files.

 

As the speed ramps up the Hub crashes and I lose all connectivity and it takes multiple reboots to be back to normal. This is such a big issue that I can replicate the issue now and even the SSIDs are being affected as they are getting reset everytime this issue happens and the router is rebooted.

 

I spoke to someone at Sky who acknowledged the issue and stated that the "Black Router" is not up to standard for the Gigafast internet, however sky wants me to pay monthly to send me a "White Route" to fix the issue.

 

Surely this is now under the grounds of not fit for purpose and I should be able to cancel my broadband package if Sky doesn't fix the issue free of charge.

 

Looking forward to discuss this with someone with more knowledge and authority as I spent 1h on the phone, spoke to 3 people and all 3 gave me different answers and different solutions, including re-sign a new contract...

@Mondee Don't think so, to prove the system is running full tilt, i have my son transfer a 50Gbyte file from his PC to mine, he has VM 2Gb/s symmetrical so able to do, i am FF500 on sky, it runs full tilt my side and never misses a beat, has been run more than ten times now in the proving Fibre is fine, internal transfer test pushes 2.2Gb/s between two PC's same file also with zero problems!

 

Old SR203 has now been retired so no longer on the wan!

 

Your download are you wired connected or wireless to the device. Do you think it is also possible a time related event pusing the data through and don't understand why your ssid are flipping back to i assume the default's that you have chenged. Has sky offered up a replacement SR203 for you to try?

@JimM1 Device is wired to the router.

 

I don't understand what is causing it but the router stops working and it's a pain to even get other devices reconnected. The last time this happened (last night) the SSID changed back to the default setting for whatever reason.

 

Sky are sending me another of these SR203 routers, but reading through others threads where other users have the same issue, the router replacement didn't fix it and they were sent a Sky Max Hub that seems to have fixed the issue.

 

What's interesting is that 2 of the people I spoke to at Sky, told me that the issue is with the Router and I should have the Sky Max Hub on a Gigafast 900 package.

 

I have had multiple issues with Sky since upgrading to Gigafast, which I turned a blind eye to, but this one is just ridiculous.

@Mondee Understand what you are saying, the SR203 Black Broadband Hub is a rock steady unit, never once had a problem with it, even the refurbed one i got on return to sky, yes Gigafast sky Max, but for me would just not have that for love nor money, to far tied down for my liking!

Be interesting to see what the replacement does, never seen the hub lock up, and sure don't like the ssid not holding it's setting!

@JimM1 Yeah, something seems to be really wrong as it just happened again.

 

I am hoping the new Router fixes this, otherwise will be looking to leave early...

 

Out of curiosity, what is so bad about the Sky Max Hub?

@Mondee You need to read and understand how the sky Max hub works on a network connection! It may be fine for you just not me!
