Sky Home move Broadband Availability

Good evening all, Just a quick question in regards to my sky Stream & broadband move, I moved property very recently and done the Move online.

seems to be one major issue which i suspect is the reason for why I can't get broadband installed any quicker, When the order was put through it required an engineer visit, This then turned out to now be that openreach need to fault find according to sky, I've done my checks and from the Openreach Address checker I'd struggle to even get broadband installed, Every broadband checker I've used Sky, Vodafone, BT, Can't provide broadband and my new address! Does anyone know what will happen I'm due a sky engineer visit tomorrow morning but I think I'll be told bad news that I won't be able to get broadband and I'm in contact with sky,

please see the checker below if anyone can digest what could possibly happen?  I've never seen such low availability for broadband at an address before?

The wholesale checker says waiting list which is usually fttc speak for the cabinet is at capacity . As fttp by passes the cabinet straight to the exchange this shouldn't be a factor.

Also in the notes they should include house type and anticipated issues.  All in all very strange

Re: Sky Home move Broadband Availability

Hi cookiemonsteruk Thankyou for the reply,

Its very vague information that im being given from sky which im at a loss as to whats happening, Not sure what the engineer will tell me tommorow but my Partner has put in a 4G Three Mobile broadband router to which even this struggles so much to be able to get my sky stream working, Network Coverage is so poor, I have a 18 month old boy so Internet is a must at this property, Didn't think it'll be not so straight forward with a home move,

The previous tenant must of had Talk Talk as there's two phone sockets one in bedroom which the talk talk one is, And one in the front room,

But all broadband checkers state i cant get any broadband here, Its really strange.

All you can do is wait until tomorrow unfortunately.  Openreach may have a better idea as to whats going on so ask them

Re: Sky Home move Broadband Availability

Well 8am - 1pm Time slot went by with no engineer that showed up but quoted from a Sky Expert in messages this morning,

"Hi, Just a further update regarding your order. Openreach have told us they are still in the process of completing the work required to provide you with a working service. We would like to apologise for the delay however rest assured we are working with Openreach to provide you with a service as soon as possible. Don't worry, your billing for Broadband and Talk won't start until your services have been activated. We're already working hard to get your order back on track, and we'll text you when new updates are available. You can view new updates & messages in here (My messages) We will contact Openreach again and provide you the latest update by 20/09/2024"

Im guessing its now in the hands of Openreach, Upon further investigating it seems this property is not even hooked into any Fibre broadband, Since any check from other providers comes back as they cant supply the address.

Waiting list for FTTP usually means the underground CBT or overhead pole is at capacity for your street/row of houses.

The absence of the usual line about FTTP delivery method is odd: my reading is that the address hasn't had the required pre-installation survey, or perhaps there's no optical infrastructure at all locally.  It just doesn't look like a complete record.

Re: Sky Home move Broadband Availability

Thankyou all for the messages, What will happen in this regard, I dont hold much hope but would this be something that openreach would proactively sort out with a push from sky or is this a case of the fact i'll be stuck on a waiting list for a while, Its just so strange that hardly any provider can provision any broadband here.

Thanks

It can take 4 weeks to respond to the form.  But keep us updated it would be useful to see what the issue is

Re: Sky Home move Broadband Availability

Hi all,

No progress on this whatsoever,

im getting the same generic response each time and im getting quite annoyed with it they'll give an update 5/6 days later from openreach but it'll still be the same

"Hi, Just a further update regarding your order. Openreach have told us they are still in the process of completing the work required to provide you with a working service. is there any way to put pressure on sky to try speed this up with openreach it seems like it's the lowest priority to try get me connected so far, Not sure what else to do,

I heard back from the form I filled out and they basically told me that I need to contact my provider sky..

Thanks
