I can't change any of my device's names in the My sky app rename your device menu as it just says "Something went wrong, your request couldn't be processed. please close this message and try again".
Can anyone else change theirs? It's REALLY annoying not being able to set devices names as things like my printer have no name.
This router is absolutely cack. "Your settings are being automanaged and improved via the MySky app" etc. Let ME choose, thankyou. And make a proper router panel than doing everything through a stupid phone app. Why would I want to type a load of ports into a PHONE rather than my PC? grr.
Absolutely stupid I can't properly split the network and have different SSIDs, too.
Why are we going BACKWARDS with technology?

Many routers are moving to app control, it is not just Sky, it avoids the increasing problem where modern browsers refusing to connect to non https sites and is considered far more user friendly.
The inability to split SSIDs is also not uncommon with WiFi6 routers as to deliver WiFi6 speeds the unit requires a dualband SSID.
The solution if this bugs you is to buy and use a third party router with the features you require or move to an ISP thst supports your needs.

Yet why are we losing BASIC functionality that's been in routers for generations? This is not an improvement. A mobile app is absolutely not an improvement for a web interface. Again, simply entering ports is a pain on a mobile, compared to PC.
It's not hard to have a "basic" and "advanced" UI. Routers are technical devices meant to perform a certain function. Modern tech seems to be following the capability of developers, rather than the other way around.
Anyways, my renaming of devices is not working due to that error, another casualty of it being done through a (Removed) mobile app.
Is this working for anyone else or just me?

As @Chrisee indicates, that's the way all such hardware will go eventually because the goal of the browser manufacturers is to eliminate 'self-signed' SSL. Browser administration has no inherent right to exit: it just became standard in the absence of anything else.

I have the same problem. Can't rename any devices through the sky app. I just get the "Something went wrong" error 🙄

Thanks. Sounds like it's not just me then.
Reported it to sky when I made that post. Still the same...
I hate this technical regression. Losing features, inferior UI's, nothing working anymore..

Same problem here. I need to quickly recognise what's connected to WiFi, not try and identify devices from MAC address.

Found a (laborious) workaround.
Open the admin console myrouter.io from a web browser.
Navigate to Connected Devices - Devices
Identify the device to rename. Click on the host name to expand it and note the MAC and IP addresses.
At the botom of the panel click on "Add device with reserved IP"
Enter the host name you want and the MAC and IP addresses.
Save and wait a few minutes for the system to update.
You can then go back to the renamed device and click on Edit box to set it back to DHCP if required.
You can't rename it from Edit, you have to go through the "Add device with reserved IP" to change the name.

Thanks. The other (semi-workaround) is to click on the device and add a "note". Not as good as re-naming it, though.
Again, BASIC functionality, no reason for it not to be in the admin panel.
Please all who want to do this, report it to Sky that their stupid app isn't working for re-naming devices. When I called they just said they'd had no reports. If many report it, they may fix it.
