Sky Gigafast and Playstation 5
I have spent hours on call to support, but it appears the new routers I've been sent do not work with the Playstation 5. We upgraded to the Gigafast package a few months ago, but the speed 5 metres from the router was about 50mbs.
I was sent a new router, this was a bit faster around the house. But the PS5 won't connect to the internet with it ( well it connected then the router seemed to shut the PS5 out ). It connects to the router, but then the router does not connect to the internet. I noticed the smart TV in there has the same problem too. After over an hour on call, i was sent another router. Exactly the same situation. I had a 90 minute call with support trying DNS settings etc. I tried connecting the PS5 through the router we had for years and it works fine, so its not a PS issue. I've tried connecting ethernet also, its the same. Forgetting network and re-doing, changing between 2.4 and 5Ghz. If the internet had a suggestion I've tried it, if support had a suggestion its been tried.
I did a power cycle reset on the router where i left if off for an hour, powered up and held reset for 30 seconds and then connected the ethernet. After this the PS worked, but it was slow. 20 mbs. But it was at least connected. It lasted about 36 hours and then yet again, the same problem is back. The router seems to be blacklisting the PS5 as far as i can tell.
The wifi quality seems generally very poor with these new routers, before i could be at the far end of my garden listning to music absolutely fine. With this one a wall being in the way and its a bit sketchy at best.
But the Playstation issue is the deal breaker. We upgraded so the kids could get faster broadband on the PS5, that was the main reason for wanting faster internet, now we can't do anything.
I've been waiting for the 'networking team' to contact me for 12 days now, i was advised 3 days.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? Any advice here? I'm close to trying to get out of the contract and going Virgin after about 20 years with Sky as this has been going on for weeks and wasted many hours trying to sort. The online support have tried to help, but just can't. The networking team I'm not sure even exist at this point.
