Sky Full Fibre Gigafast freezing/dropping connections multiple times per hour

I've had two new Sky hubs recently, no change.

 

I have a wired network in my house, have the Sky wifi turned off, a Netgear ProSafe 24 Port Gigabit switch (with 23 ports in use) and a number of Unifi wifi access points.

Sky engineer visited a couple of weeks ago and was talking to another engineer on the phone who frustratingly wouldn't talk to me directly as he was only allowed to talk to the engineer. They stated that there is no issue with the fibre or the Sky hub. The one I couldn't speak to was saying, I think, that there are 2 Apple devices on my network which are failing authorisation and causing the internet to freeze / drop out. He appeared to have access to the Mac addresses but I couldn't get them as I couldn't speak to him and the engineer present wasn't very helpful.


This may or may not be a red herring but the one I couldn’t speak to sounded quite knowledgeable.


I have an Imac plugged in direct to one of the ports on the back of the Sky hub and when I run ping tests I get timeouts with regularity. I either have to wait for the connection to restore itself, often several minutes later, or if I go onto Network settings on this Mac and Renew DHCP lease this will bring the connection back (on this machine).

I just called Sky again for help and the call had a familiar pattern. This time it was suggested that I hold down the WPS button on the side of the router for 45 seconds. I said please call me back if we lose the call. The internet and phone line went down and I've not had a call back. I can see that the original issue is still happening.

I'm really, really frustrated. If anyone here can shed any light on what I need to do to trouble shoot this problem and get reliable connectivity it would be much appreciated. Many thanks

Have you tried unplugging the two suspect macs from ethernet and using WiFi temporarily?
