Sky Full Fibre Ethernet ports not equal
Hello
Around a month ago we had Sky Full Fibre installed.
Sky was installed to coexist with Virgin Full Fibre.
Virgn Fibre - modem mode - XR500 Router. Virgin gives internet to the whole house.
Sky supplies internet to two gaming PC's with ethernet cables, wifi is swicthed off.
THE ISSUE.
Sky Hub Ethernet port 1 - ALWAYS AROUND 900MB DOWNLOAD - 100 UPLOAD
Sky Hub Ethernet port 2 and 3, act more like a maintenance port, they never give the same download/upload as port 1, UNLESS YOU START SWICTHING THE ETHERNET CABLE BETWEEN PORTS 2 AND 3 while you pc is on/connected,, then eventually it gives the same performance as port 1. Very odd
We have had the hub swapped already, also I have read quite a few posts with the same issues.
This proplem doesnt exist when we switch back to the virgin connection with the same cables, which are new CAT8.
So we have decieded to buy a replacement for the sky router, I have read Asus is a good replacement.
Would this be a difficult swap and what knowledge would I need in advance to set it up, any recomendations?
Thanks for looking.

Re: Sky Full Fibre Ethernet ports not equal
@Lady_Royal As long as you do not require the Sky hub for any landline function or connecting to a vdsl/adsl circuit then you can swap it out for an asus. No special knowledge is required apart from setting up and getting the Asus to work, auto setup should be fine.
How is the sky connected just now, are you on a FFTP or a FTTC connection?
Have never heard of or seen any such problems with Ethernet ports with any of the sky hub's.

Re: Sky Full Fibre Ethernet ports not equal
I am using a pair of ASUS BT10 in Access Point mode connected to my Sky Hub (SR203) via Ethernet.
I have turned off WiFi on the Sky Hub and using the ASUS for both WiFi and Ethernet connections..
I am now getting the full speed of the Sky Gigafast 900 on both WiFi and Ethernet around the house.
You can also use these in router mode connected direct to the ONT and there is plenty of great advice on here on how to set that up.
Access Point mode is working fine for me though.

Re: Sky Full Fibre Ethernet ports not equal
Thanks for the reply Mark
FFTP is our conection.
I have read a few posts with people not getting the same performance from the ports (scattered on the web), or slower than their wifi performance.
It is odd as when I do back to back tests with our virgin connection the proplem doesnt exist, maybe its soemthing our end regarding the PC's mixing not great with the skyhub.
Really apprciate the feedback regarding the Asus router, sounds straight forward.
Thanks again.

Re: Sky Full Fibre Ethernet ports not equal
@Simmo_UK It's what ever it takes to operate, just would not waste an Asus router in a AP mode off operating.
